Future Continuous Tense atau disebut pula Future Progressive Tense adalah tenses yang digunakan untuk menyatakan sesuatu yang (kemungkinan besar) sedang berlangsung di masa depan.

Misalnya, jika kamu berencana pergi ke sekolah esok hari dan belajar selama pukul 07.00 – 14.00. Dapat diketahui bahwa dalam rentang waktu tersebut (07.00 – 14.00) esok hari, kemungkinan besar kamu sedang belajar di sekolah.

Dengan demikian, saat ini kamu bisa mengatakan:

I will be studying in school at 10am tomorrow. (aku akan sedang belajar di sekolah pada pukul 10 pagi besok)

Pukul 10 pagi masuk dalam rentang waktu kamu belajar di sekolah (07.00 – 14.00). Jadi, kalimat di atas valid alias benar / sah. Pada jam 10 pagi tersebut, kemungkinan besar kamu memang sedang belajar di sekolah, meskipun hal itu belum terjadi saat ini.

Contoh lain, misalnya kamu biasa makan malam bersama keluarga pukul 19.00. Ternyata, pada waktu yang sama sebuah film mulai diputar. Maka, kamu bisa mengatakan:

We will be having dinner when the film starts. (kita akan sedang makan malam saat filmnya mulai)

Rumus Future Continuous Tense

Berbeda dari Simple Future Tense, rumus Future Continuous Tense ternyata lebih kompleks.

Lalu, apa yang dimaksud dengan pelengkap? Pelengkap disini adalah sesuatu yang bisa melengkapi kalimat. Pelengkap tersebut bisa berupa adjective, object, adverb dan lain sebagainya.

Kamu juga dapat meringkas subject + will, lho. Contohnya seperti berikut ini:

I’ll = I will

You’ll = You will

They’ll = They will

She’ll = She will

He’ll = He will

We’ll = We will

It’ll = It will (singkatan It’ll agak jarang dipakai)

Bentuk negatif dari will, yakni will not, juga memiliki contraction (singkatan) lho. Kata ini biasa disingkat won’t. Jadi, kamu bisa menulis atau mengucapkan I won’t, they won’t, she won’t, he won’t, it won’t, we won’t dan you won’t.
